Ginger Oil as per BP, USP Grade (British and United States Pharmacopoeia):
Ginger Oil is extracted from the aromatic root of Zingiber officinale through the steam distillation method. It contains active compounds like l-zingiberene, d-camphene, borneol, cineole, citral, and phellandrene. Native to India and South China, ginger is cultivated widely across Asia. This essential oil is warming and energising, making it highly valued in Ayurvedic and medicinal practices. It has applications in treating colds, coughs, digestive issues, and muscle pain and as a fragrance or flavouring agent in cosmetics and food products. The plant grows 3–4 feet tall with narrow green leaves and yellow flowers.

History of Ginger Oil:
Ginger has a long history of use in traditional medicine in China, India, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia. The name "Zingiber" is derived from the Greek word meaning "horse-shaped," reflecting the root’s unique structure. The essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of dried, unpeeled, and ground-up ginger rhizomes. These rhizomes are harvested about 10 months after planting, then dried naturally under sunlight for oil extraction.

Chemical Composition:
Key constituents of Ginger Oil include geranial, 1,8-cineole, zingiberene, β-bisabolene, β-sesquiphellandrene, α-pinene, β-pinene, camphene, linalool, borneol, terpineol, nerol, geraniol, and geranyl acetate.

Extraction Process:
The oil is produced by steam distilling the dried roots of Zingiber officinale, ensuring high purity and potency.

Oil Properties:
This oil has a thin, light-yellow consistency with a mildly pungent, spicy aroma. It is medium to watery in viscosity and slightly sharp due to the gingerol content.

Blends Well With:
Ginger oil blends beautifully with cedarwood, lemon, eucalyptus, frankincense, geranium, rosemary, sandalwood, patchouli, neroli, orange, rosewood, ylang-ylang, and myrtle oils.
